The mission of the SLMMF is to bring together Muslims who are involved in the Print and Electronic Media and also those who are involved in the communication industry in educating, imparting knowledge and training of Media Personnel in the country.

Mawanella - Sri Lanka Muslim Media Forum conducted a Student Media Training Workshop at Baduriya Central College, Mawanella, on the 19th of May 2007 on the theme “Role of Media in 21st Century. 118 female and 106 male students form 5 Tamil and Muslim schools and 14 teachers too took part.
