Media Workshop in Kalmunai
Sri Lanka Muslim Media Forum in its effort to capacity building of provincial journalists and introducing media education to students simultaneously conducted two one-day workshops at Zahira College, Kalmunai on the 4th of November 2006.
“Public Service Journalism – Techniques in News Reporting” and the Role of Media in 21st Century were the themes of the workshops for journalists and students respectively.
63 journalists of Amparai District and 132 Tamil and Muslim students of both sexes actively took part in the workshops.
Mr. M.P.M. Azhar, Chief Editor – Navamani, and senior journalists Mr. Uvindu Kurukulasooriya, Mr. M.S.M.Ayub, Mr. Ameer Hussain, Mr. Kalaiwathy Kaleel, Mr. M.A.M. Nilam, and Mr. Javed Munawwer were resource persons at the workshop.
At the conclusion of the workshops a Certificate Awarding ceremony was held which was graced by Hon. Cegu Izzadean, Deputy Minister of Media and Information, as the Chief Guest and Alhaj A.H.M. Azwer, Media Ombudsman as the Guest of Honour.
