Contest seeks works that create awareness of population issues

Fellowships and Awards Deadline: 04/09/2009 Region: Worldwide

Journalists, authors,  filmmakers, editors, electronic game designers and other media professionals are invited to submit works to the Population Institute for its 30th Annual Global Media Awards, which honor those who have contributed to creating an awareness of population problems through their journalistic efforts. Deadline: September 4.

Categories for submission include: article or series of articles, book, news service, online news service, radio show, film or mini-series, TV show, editorial cartoon, print editorial or broadcast commentary, online commentary or blog, serial drama and electronic or online game.

Reporting should be accurate, fair, easily understood by the targeted audience, offer a new or enhanced perspective on the subject of population, be relevant to the public policy debate on population or public understanding of issues related to population.

Eligible works must have been published or aired between September 1, 2008 and August 31, 2009. Winners will receive their award in Washington, D.C. through an all expenses paid trip. Applicants should submit their justification for the award, the name of the media outlet and the date of its use, along with three copies of the project being considered.
